September 01,2025
Exide Energy Solutions (EES), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exide Industries Ltd., aims to commence commercial production of Phase-I of a project for making lithium-ion cells in Bengaluru, by the end of the 2025-26 financial year.
The first phase will comprise of four advanced production lines with a combined capacity of 6-GWh, and is part of a larger 12-GWh greenfield lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility.
To meet the investment needs for the projects, Exide Industries recently approved an additional equity investment of Rs. 1-bn in EES. The funding, made through the allotment of equity shares, keeps Exide’s stake in EES unchanged at 100%. With this infusion, Exide's cumulative investment in EES now stands at Rs. 37.0223-bn.
EES is focused on manufacturing and marketing of lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs for both electric vehicle manufacturers and stationary energy storage applications.
